Pee Dee Coalition and friends will celebrate the opening of the New Beginnings Transitional Shelter with An Evening Among the Oaks. This event will feature an evening meal and live music among the towering oak trees that adorn the shelter’s landscape. These oaks symbolize strength and resilience, and remind us of those who have helped make this facility possible, and the victims of domestic abuse who will call this beautiful property “home,” now and in the future. Join us in our mission to ensure that victims of domestic abuse in the Pee Dee have a place to turn to, as they work towards having a permanent, and loving home of their own. During the event, we will: celebrate the opening of New Beginnings Transitional Shelter, Dedicate “Iyana’s Playground” in memory of Iyana Lowery and her mother, Ella, Recognize and thank the volunteers and donors who have made this facility possible and raise funds to complete the needed repairs & renovations on the home, formally known as the Thurman-Steele House, circa 1909. Rain or shine event.
